Improve sleeping routine: The beneficial qualities of sleep upon your health and spirit have been long discussed, but do you really sleep adequately? A good night sleep can drastically enhance your mood and work performance as well as your overall body state. Most people believe that a good 7-8 hours suffice, however it’s proved that teenagers have increased need of relaxation, which translates into no less than 9-10 hours of sleep. Truth be told though, no one can cope with the hectic demands of school and social life without sacrificing night sleep. Although it’s a sad fact, that doesn’t mean that it can’t be helped. Make sure to never sleep after midnight-around 10:30-11 is what you should aim for; Avoid electronics right before hoping into bed as well as anything to heavy for your stomach to digest; Try to make up for your late night by taking a short nap after lunch-and on the weekends too! Sleep better, feel and look better!

Dress to impress: Even though most of us value fashion as more than a means of self-expression, very few can actually afford our preferred aesthetics. If that’s the case for you, don’t get discouraged, abandoning the everyday struggle of making a statement with your clothes. Suck it up and buy that mink coat or those lovely Chelsea boots you’ve been drooling over. Date to wear that bright blouse or the crazy-patterned skirt to school. Look for inspiration and establish your signature look; after all there’s no shortage of places for fashion ideas, from blogs to insta to streetstyle. If there’s one thing you don’t want to have regrets about, that’s not being bold enough while young and carefree. After all, if you can’t beat them, outdress them ;)

Eat better: Admittedly, we’ve all been determined to start a detox at some time, but unfortunately, we’ve lost motivation along the way, only to resort to an even unhealthier diet However, it’s plain fact that eating clean and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is achievable, once you get your mind around doing it. So this time do it properly: Clean your kitchen off the junk food and temptations that are an ever-present hazard to your scheme. Whilst eating some pizza or having your favorite ice-cream flavor every once in a while is essential to keep your metabolism alert and your soul happy, if your cupboard consist mainly of those, failure is inevitable. Buy a ton of seasonal fruit and veggies, as well as healthy snacks, like whole-wheat cereal or yogurt. Visit some nutrition blogs and download a couple of healthy recipes to experiment on. Start having a big breakfast, average lunch and small dinner. Carry a bottle of water with you at all times-and throw some lemon wedges every now and then.

Find your creative outlet: We can all agree that school demands and social anxiety sometimes well up inside us in such a way that they leave us paralyzed. As a person who’s suffered with years of perpetual anxiety about everything, I found that the best remedy to panic attacks and overall stress management is a creative hobby. Whether it’s picking up dance classes or starting scrap booking, there are a ton of outlets to chose from. Personally, ever since I’ve started guitar lessons, I’ve noticed how much calmer I am, as whenever I feel that things are getting out of control I can simply strum my guitar until all worries subsidize. Find something that you are truly passionate about. Make it your own. It’s always comforting and soothing knowing that there’s always a thing to resort to!

Organize: There’s no better time to rearrange your life in the literal way than fall, as the change of season coincides with the start of a new school or work year. Start by cleaning your wardrobe- pack away summer garments and bring out your favorite sweaters and coats. Coordinate all clothes so as to fit the crispier weather and your school’s dress code. Then proceed into beautifully decorating and cleverly rearranging your work space, so as to accommodate all your new text books and make studying easier and more effective (check out our post about bedroom makeover here for more ideas). A tidy and tasteful room is the most rewarding thing to come home to after a long tiring day at school. See for yourself!

Catch up with friends: It’s always scary to start school again, one of the reasons being that during summer you’ve lost touch with the majority of your friends which sparks up some awkwardness when it comes to start hanging out again. The way I see it though, it’s the perfect opportunity to warm up your friendships. If school hasn’t started yet, make sure to text your buddies for a catch up at your favorite place, whether it’s a cafe or a concert; Otherwise if it’s too late for that, organize a gathering at your place with lots of food and fun music to get your classmates talking again. And remember that it’s never too late to cut lose and unworthy friendship and pursue a brand new: change is always refreshing!

Taken from MANTRAS zine
This zine is a culmination of how i got myself thru/still getting myself thru things and also things that i love and things that make me happy, mostly Stevie Nicks. I hope i don’t come off as someone who has her shit together, most of this zine is me yelling at myself and it’s really difficult to follow the directions that i give to myself, like “TAKE WHAT’S YOURS” and “DON’T HIDE!” it’s very difficult and on most days i don’t follow these directions and i fail completely. But i still yell at myself because it’s necessary that i always have these things etched in me so i have something to hold on to when shit hits the fan. - Fabiola
